Dr. James Haygood, Artistic Director
is Director of Choral Activities at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. He holds degrees from Florida State University, Indiana State University, and the doctorate in conducting from Ball State University. He has performed as soloist in oratorio, opera, and musical theater. Dr. Haygood taught in public schools in Indiana. While in the military, he toured Europe with the Seventh Army Soldiers Chorus. He has been conductor of the Acadiana Symphony Chorus and the Vocal Arts Ensemble of Lafayette. In 1994, 1997, and 2005 Dr Haygood conducted performances at Carnegie Hall in New York with festival choirs accompanied by professional orchestras.
Kevin Martin, Choral Accompanist
has been the organist at St. Pius X Church in Lafayette since 1990. He previously served churches and schools in California, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. His music studies have taken him to the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in Winchester, Virginia; Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke, Virginia; Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia; LSU in Baton Rouge; and U. L. at Lafayette, where he is currently accompanist for the University Chorale. In addition, Mr. Martin teaches piano and organ privately.
Paul Baker, Section Leader & Assistant Director
holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition from the Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati and is an accomplished tenor soloist and pianist throughout Acadiana. He is a founding member of Vocal Arts Ensemble and the Lafayette Lyric Theatre Ensemble and is organist at Asbury United Methodist Church.
